Koloradosaurus

Possibly the oldest Elephant,Mammoth or Mastodon species to exist!

possibly the oldest elephant –

Paleo-Mastodon ever found

Eritherium is the oldest, smallest and most primitive known elephant relative. The oldest Eritherium is an  extinct genus of early Proboscidea, found in Morocco, about 60 million years ago. It was the size of a fox and had no trunk.

The fossil found at the Alkaline Flats Dinosaur Museum has an estimate of a Crestestous Era, mammal, with a noticeable trunk, tusks, teeth, mouth, eyes, and ears.

Reasons why it could be the oldest Elephant/Mastodon spieces

01

Similarities with Paleo-Mastodon

The closest similar spices is the Paleo-Mastodon, however, there has never been found in north America, and they do not fit in the timeline for the fossils found in the area, (The Jurassic Period and Cretaceous Period).

02

Distinguishable trunk

When you look at the trunk from all angles, you can truly see the characteristics of a shorter trunk, similar to the Paleo-Mastodon. You can also see the air holes at the end of the trunk, could possibly be skin and hair or feathers.

03

Great Qualit Features

If the Oldest Elephant was from 60 MYA in Morrocco, yet it had no trunk, this fossil would rewrite history. With distinct Masterdom features, and an estimated age of 65-85 MYA, that would make this the oldest elephant.
